THE GAME

Pepare for take off!

Your mission: Rescue soldiers who are stranded in enemy
territory. To complete a successful mission you must enter
the war zone and pick up the suvivors. DESERT HAWK is
sophisficated and highly manoeuvrable and is armed with a
fairly powerful anti-tank launcher. This can only destroy a
tank if you hit it at exactly the right point on the turret.
DESERT HAWK can only take three men at a time but for later missions
more than three will be needed. When a full complement has
been rescued they must be returned to base.
The temperture of the engine rises sharply while in the air
aud should it reach the critical point the engine will seize.
DESERT HAWK has been fitted with an override witch will
drift the helicopter down to earth. However, this cannot be
controlled and if the enemy is beneath you, you will be
destroyed. The temperature can only be reduced while on the
ground or at base.
Various installations appear at successive stages of the game.

1)Shrapnel Launchers - Semi-spherical domes with open
  and launch armour piercing projectiles.

2)Tank - Cannot fire to any great height but can destroy you
and the men if you land to near to it.

3)Cannon - A dome with a single gun withc fires random
shells. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. The shells are very difficult to
  see, be wary.

4)Missile base - A rotating missile launcher wich fires heat
seeking missiles. They follow you until they are past, or have
  destroyed you.

With each new level, two more men must be rescued, starting
at three for first level, five a second, etc.
The LANDING COMPUTER is on the right of the instrument
panel. When DESERT HAWK is in the correct position for
landing, the word LANDING will flash and the colours round
the edges will stop. Try landing before a cargo of men have
been rescued as if you crash while they are on board they
will die too.
