missions
--------
1. battle training
ten enemy ships ranging from patrol boats to nanchuka missile corvettes come at you one at a time to get you used to the pegasus and its weapon systems.
objective: sink all ships

tips: use gun on patrol boat and save missiles for bigger ships

2. graduation exercise
all enemy ships you saw in first nmission will be coming at same time. sink them fast as possible objective: sink enemy ships

tips: move right away. use missiles on far ships, guns on closer ones. watch for dots on radar (enemy missiles). use chaff to deflect them.

3. terrorist attack
intercept and sink 7 to 10 vessels of varying types, mostly patrol boats and osa i missile craft. forces from nearby countries may aid in their escape. watch for enemy ships heading sw out of syrian waters. base on cyprus. ships flee in 4 directions. israeli ship with missiles is available.
objective: sink terrorists vessels

tips: terrorists ships are to west of starttiing position moving north fast. cut them off, destroying or avoiding their allies. save missiles for osa class ships.

4. a bettor part of valor
war in s.america. go from key west navigate yucatan straits betweem mexico and cuba to get to southern waters. objective is to get to southern edge of map while avoiding enemy. use seasprite helicopter to either help you avoid or seek and destroy enemy.
objective: escape off southern edge of map with little damage.

5. search for terrorists
two ships unsuccessfully attack american base off south coast of sicily. a sparviello hydro and a ab212 helicopter are there to aid in hunting them down. heading south toward tripoli and enemy ships patrolling north shore
objective: sink 2 nanuchka ii ships

tips: save nmissiles for fleeing ships. avoid others

6. supply conbvoy
s.american country taken over by dictator. escort high speed cargo ship with medical supplies and food to refugees. enemy forces considst 2 types of vosper-thornycroft ships armed: 1 has 2 missiles + small gun, the other 76mm cannon like yours.
objective: get convoy ship to southern part of maps eastern edge.
rank: attainable-admiral
enemy ships: vosper/thornycroft 121ft.
tips: keep engine setting at (2) as much as possible, sprinting only when emnemt sighted or to 
keep up with convoy. (saves fuel). keep convoy at full speed toward the south 1/3 edge of map. use the helicopters to spot attackers early and keep hydro between the convoy and attackers.

7. surveillance mission
militaary equip. being smugglesd to a dictator thru supposedly neutral s.american country. cargo ship was photographed taking on tanks and aircraft pats in baltic. believed to be nearing nicaragua. 7 ships of similar shape laden with farnm and building supplies also in area to probvide cover. find all 8 ships photo at close range to establish identity and compare with that of suspected arms ship. automatic photo by approaching within 1500 ft of them and use binoculars by choosing it as a target). dont sink them! this will cause a failed mission. use 2 seahawk helis to scout ships some enemy ships in area so identify at long range. watch fuel usage.
objective: find and photo all 8 carghgo ships without sinking any.

tips: cargo ships move slowly but they are scattered all over and will eventually reach safe port. use helicopters to find quickly

8. jihad
escort a supply ship out of persian gulf. there is a war going on and innocent ships are being 
fired upon ships captain is scared so you must rendevous with the ship by making your way thru the 
straits of hormuz the supply ship will respond to your controls the way an helicopter will. avoid conflict if possible. hostole contact or getting too close will cause their fleet to attack. uard supply ship well at all times. use 2 helis to watch for ship movements. watch out for the battles, too close will cause you to be fired upon. watch fuel and time limit!

you can switch the view from the bridge to a map of area. map shows entire area of operations for current mission. it shows all major land masses, borders of amission area, current location of ship, all friendly forces and all enemy forces within radar range. hydrofoil(ship) is shown in white . also shows location of your helis if any. control of helis and escorted convoys is from map.

weapons and defenses

76mm cannon
90 rounds per minute effective against aircraft and missislles. range 10 miles but effective at  six for small ships. lead targets over 2 miles away

chaff rockets 
filled with aluminum junk to deflect missiles fire when enemy missile is about 1 mile away. 

harpoon missiles
most accurate and potent weapon. hit target 90% of time and destroy snmall ships with 1 shot. 40 mile range

gabriel missiles - israeli hydro only
shorter range than harpoon but more accurate. use aggainst ships beyond rangeof guns

exocet missiles - italian hydro only
similar to harpoon

radar
range 40 miles, more from front or back of hydro.

auxiliary craft
helis and convoy ships controlled from operations map.

damage

heavy damage to 4 compartments will sink pegasus. 3 for israeli ship 2 for italian ship

system damage
76mm cannon: light damage will cause misfire. heavy: disabled
radar: light damage limits range to 20 miles, heavy: 10 miles, still have limited long range view on operations map.
chaff: light: misfire, heavy: wont work
missiles: same as chaff
fuel tanks: the more damage the more loss of fuel. out of fuel mission failure
engines: light: loss of max speed heavy: more loss, unable to get back up on foils.

operating instructions 
----------------------
you can operate either from the bridge or the operations map. to switch from on one to the other, hit v on keyboard. from bridge you manuever hydro, or select, aim, or fire weapons. also can adjust radar range from 2.5 to 40 miles from operations map control helis or convoy ships if necessary. or set hydro on autopilot course.

Overview:
--------
Hydrofoil operation is by means of keyboard and joystick. You can use  either to control the hydrofoil's movement, weapons, aiming and firing, and any auxiliary craft. use the  keyboard to pause and resume play, to increase and decrease time compression, to switch between the Bridge and the Operations Map, and to select weapons or auxilary craft. 

Two main viewing "modes" are available at any time - the bridge and the Operations Map.

Joystick Control
----------------
You can use the joystick either to control the hydrofoil or to aim and fire your weapons. From the Bridge, in movement mode, you can control the hydrofoil's movement by moving the joystick left or right, and its speed by moving it forward or back. In weapons mode, use the joystick to move the aiming cursor around the binocular view. Fire your weapons in either mode by pressing the fire button. You can toggle between  Movement and Weapons mode by pressing the spacebar. From the Oprations Map, use your joystick to set your destination cursor, and the fire button to set off on your course.
